The Challenge

The idea behind...

Travelling is becoming a different ballgame. It is no longer about choosing a destination, a means of transport, an accommodation and a couple of activities.

In the world today, people are looking to have an experience and to make it as unique as possible.

In the Hack@Travel we are looking for new and innovative technology solutions to create unique experiences for travellers.

Starting point - Here are some thoughts...

  • We "Travellers" want to do things that we enjoy, to encounter people that we like, to be able to explore, play and interact. We want to be inspired and we need to make the most of the time we have. We seek for a sense of purpose for the trips we do

  • Existing technologies like artificial intelligence, social media content, and apps can help understand customer preferences (before, during and after) and will force the redefinition of the existing inventory to make it available for being tailor-made packaged to each customer, in real time

  • Travel assistants, bots and robotics can interact with the customer during the travel. Integration with user-content, social networks and possible wearables can help travelers be connected, safe and inspired

The Means

The Hack@Travel will be held at the Hotelbeds Group HeadQuarters in Palma. We'll kick-off the event on Thursday February 22nd at 16:00 and we'll run for 24 hours non-stop until winners and prizes are announced on Friday February 23rd at 17:00

  • Technology provided by HBG

    • APITUDE - This is the Hotelbeds Group API for accomodation

    • ACTAPI - For dealing with activities and tickets on destination

  • Other technologies

    • Any public open API or open source of data, can be combined to enhance your proposal

  • Mentors

    • During the first hours of the hackathon you will have support from Hotelbeds business mentors to help you shape your proposal. They are business experts in the travel industry

  • Tech Help

    • The Technology and Product teams of hotelbeds will also be there to help out with the APIs, documentation and how to use it

    • You can start looking at our documentation by registering in our developer portal. It's free ;-)

    • During the event, slack channels will be open for you to get additional support
